  My GPS took me on a 14 mile route to go the 1.5 miles from my hotel to my desitnation. I can only say it must have been divine inspiration, as it took me past Holy Family Catholic Church -- which stands out in its modern design, amidst the small, traditional, spired churches in this part of Eastern NC -- and inspired me to attend their Sunday service, although I had not really been planning on attending Mass that weekend (you know, the "away from home dispensation")
  
  From the moment I entered until I left, donut in hand, I was overwhelmed with the warmth of spirit of the congregation and the beauty of the huge, plain white, marble-looking cross overhanging the altar, and the post Vatican II, appropriate musical selections. The homily, on Good Shepherd Sunday, was so touching, yet witty, well organized, intelligent yet humble, was so outstanding it made me weep. I am only sorry I didn't get to meet this very gifted Pastor personally, to commend him.
  
  I was certainly blessed to have attended a Mass at Holy Family, and I encourage anyone in the area to take advantage of attending a service there.
